Cassia & Justin were married on July 12, 2003 at Hale Treasure Island on the north shore of the island of Oahu. Cassia planned a destination wedding that brides dream of. Knowing that there would be details to take care of on her wedding day she decided to hire a wedding coordinator instead of having to stress over them.
Cassia planned her wedding so well that she had drawings of her table layout, ceremony layout, and reception layout emailed to me months in advance. This made my job a lot easier when communicating with Kahala Caterers who set all the tables, chairs, cake table, and food & bar stations up at Hale Treasure Island. She was a bride that knew exactly what she wanted and hired someone who would make it happen.
With family in tow we arrived early the morning of her wedding at Hale Treasure Island to create the luminaries that would light the deck in the evening, watched the turtles swimming below and sunning on the shore, placed butterflies around the ceremony site, set up chairs for the ceremony... and then they, the bride and maid of honor, finally rested and decided to leave the rest to me. Getting Cassia to stop was not an easy feat... she enjoyed planning her wedding and doing everything... I even suggested she begin a business of her own as a wedding coordinator she would be great...
The ceremony took place under perfect Hawaii weather conditions. Vows were written for them that incorporated very personal and funny things they love about each other - tears and laughter occurred throughout the ceremony.
Cassia had decided to hire several photographers to capture her wedding day on film. Jim Creed a wonderful photographer was hired to shoot family photos but he couldn't resist taking more than he was hired to do since Cassia and Justin were awesome and wonderful as a bride and groom. His photos are featured above. Brad Uyehara from Reve Photography was hired for his special Polaroid processing he does once he develops his slides. I'm not even sure how to describe it. Basically, it is a process of taking the top layer of this Polaroid paper and transferring it onto art paper, when this is done the photo is somewhat distorted and aged. The end product is a new and exciting product that photographers are now offering their couples. Jennifer Okamoto was a student from the University of Hawaii that Cassia hired to capture anything she saw interesting.
The ambiance was set with live Hawaiian music and hula dancers that danced on the deck as the sunset. Once the toasts were completed, the cake was cut, and the couples danced, they were sent on their merry way with sparklers and their guests.
Cassia and Justin were a joy to work with if she ever moves to Hawaii I'd be honored if she decided to work with me as a wedding coordinator. I'd handle the wedding day stresses and she could handle the back end of things....
